{ Hilary & Chris // Engaged! }
It had been raining all day, but the weather forecast indicated that the rain would clear up just after the start time of our portrait session at 6:00 pm. We’d already rescheduled once because of rain, two week earlier. As we drove down George Washington Parkway, headed toward Alexandria, I shot a nervous glance at my husband when the rain began to pour down even harder. It’ll clear up… right?
By the time we arrived at Daingerfield Island, the rain backed down, to a light drizzle. We met up with Hilary and Chris, who were prepped for the rain, with rubber boots, raincoats and umbrellas, looking totally unbothered by the weather and up for the adventure! We began our session with some casual long shots of the couple walking by the waterfront, umbrellas and all, while the drizzle carried on.
Serendipitously enough, a new cafe, Triple Craft, just opened up at Daingerfield Island. Actually it wasn’t even technically open yet, but the staff was doing a test run to prep for opening night in the coming week. So we decided to take a break from the rain and head indoors for a while. Hilary and Chris ordered a milkshake with two straws and a cherry on top - completely adorable!
The rain finally cleared and the sun began to peak out through the clouds, opening up a dramatic sky and even a rainbow! Additionally, we had the backdrop of the Potomac River and airplanes landing at Reagan National Airport - what a view! The last hour of our portrait session was completely gorgeous, with Hilary and Chris as the perfect models! We can’t wait to photograph their wedding in the fall! In the meantime, as they wait to say “I do,” here are some highlights from their Engagement Portrait Session.
